The letters of the Hebrew alphabet are used to represent the Hebrew system of numerals. In contrast to traditional Hindu-Arabic numerals, Hebrew notation does not have a concept of zero, and each letter’s cardinal values are added to represent a numerical value. A third type of gematria is known as ‘Ordinal’ gematria; this assigns a numerical value to each letter according to its place in the alphabet rather than its individual value. For example, ‘A’ would be equal to 1, ‘B’ would be equal to 2 and so on. This system can be applied just like Hebrew or Greek gematria but produces different results due to its unique numbering system. To use the calculator above, simply enter the word or phrase you want to calculate. The calculator will then calculate and display the English simple gematira value and the English Jewish gematria value. The English gematria number meanings are derived from the Greek geometria word “geometry”, which uses gematria translation. But some other groups claim it to be derived from Greek grammatical. Still, in reality, English gematria number meanings are influenced by factors for the origin of the Hebrew word. It also exists in English since the past 17th century after the great Giovanni Pico Della Mirandola did the translation work. Even though it foundationally originated in Greek, it is extensively used by Jewish texts that fall under the association with Kabbalah.
