Aside from attitude, one of the most important factors that played in the success of my daughter is the fact our online Math tutor. Now that she’s older, she still, from time to time, consults with her online Math tutor and gets input. Her challenge right now is her geometry course, but since all online Math tutors are accredited Math teachers (some of them with a Master’s Degree), they will be able to help you. Online Math tutors are able to give your son or daughter the attention their teachers are unable to give. And since the setup is one-on-one, all the questions that your children might have can be addressed accordingly.

The good news is that it is very easy to help your child understand these concepts. The key is to practice a few minutes several times a day. Make it a family affair so your child does not feel overly stressed. Your child or children will remember the lessons better if they had fun with it.

A major cause of confusion is when a common word is used in a math problem. The same common word has a different meaning in math. For example, the word difference.

Learn to love math. It is your friend and can help you out of many predicaments and situations that you need to solve in your strategy game. Do you hate math? Realize that there are many, many methods to get the correct answer so find your own method. It is truly fun to realize that no one has the exact concept of math that you do. Always remember that math will lead you to the true answer, p195699, forum.kpn-interactive.com, the true solution.

Because improving success in math as well as helping children have a positive feeling about math and their own abilities is such an important part of my life, I spend a small portion of each day looking online to see what is being pushed at interested, caring, and worried parents as solutions to their child’s difficulties in math.

Many teachers believe that grading is a form of feedback. It isn’t. Grading, when done well, can be a form of assessment of learning, but the distinction should be clear. Grades are not an effective tool as assessment for learning. Grades are the end of the road, when you assess what has been learned, but they should not be intended to inform a student where to go next.

When you do this, also let your students know how mathematicians think. One piece of research that is helpful to know is that mathematicians spend a long time thinking about how to set up a problem, a little bit of time doing the problem, and a long time “looking back” by asking the question, “Does this make sense?’ Model that for your students, by putting up a complex problem on the board and spending time not just jumping into a solution, but just talking about what strategies you might use to solve the problem.
